Your clients were eager to get their album, maybe they even pre-paid for it, but after the wedding you don't hear from them. Maybe they don't reply to your calls. What can you do? Here are some suggestions to keep things moving along! Don't be surprised After the big day, real life sets in. No wonder you slip down the to-do list. There's work to catch up on, and everything else they've put on hold, maybe for weeks. Make sure they know you understand. Set deadlines People need structure, so give them a timeline before the big day. For example, their images will be online To View More >>

Don’t offer just one service, offer choices. Don’t assume the deal that encourages people to get in touch with you is the one they’ll commit to later (once you’ve open their eyes to how good you are, and what you can do for them). And don’t assume that they won’t go even further once they’ve fallen in love with their own photographs. That’s the To View More >>

It was a rewarding and emotional experience from end to end, but one of the highlights, after weeks sweating our way around the country, was heading to the Metropole Hotel in Hanoi for a high end lunch. I've just finished re-watching Barry Schwartz's Ted Talk on The Paradox of Choice. He makes this very important point: Too much choice produces paralysis. Offer people too much choice and they'll find it very difficult to choose at all. Yes, at Queensberry we offer a lot of choice! We know that. We do it because every photographer is different. And we agree, as Barry Schwartz says, that it can be difficult to get your head around. But … if you want to sell products, you need to make the effort, not leave it to your customers.  As our designer friend Donna says, to run a design To View More >>

Updated 18 October 2020 "Happy Holidays!" – They'll be on us faster than we think, and your clients will definitely want their books, boxes, albums, frames, canvases and prints in good time. "Go to the front of the line!" — that's what we recommend every year. Our orders go up 3-400% before Christmas, and, since most of what we do is handmade to order, we publish these guidelines in the interests of a low-stress lead-up to the holidays. Don't worry though — these are guidelines, not deadlines. We  generally get orders out that we receive  way  To View More >>

"Micro-Weddings/Elopements/Minimony(s)." Whatever you like to call them, it appears smaller weddings are here to stay — at least for the foreseeable future.  How things used to be Many wedding photography businesses have been built on the premise that a wedding shoot lasts all day, that there will be "getting-ready" shots needed of at least one half of the couple, that after the ceremony there'll be family photos and a celebration to cover, and that in many cases a second photographer will be needed to fully capture the day’s events. Many photographers have built a career based To View More >>

We've now introduced a fourth, a "mixed orientation" layout design — i.e. it doesn't To View More >>

Queensberry and COVID-19 Update: Wednesday March 25th 2020 Hello everyone, In response to the COVID-19 pandemic the New Zealand Government has put the country on an “Alert Level 4” lockdown for at least four weeks effective tonight (details below). As a result we can now confirm that as of this afternoon the Queensberry Print Lab and Bindery will be on hold for that time. Many of our staff are already working from home, and today the rest of the team are busy sending out as much work as possible before they too self-isolate at home. Please continue to send in your orders, which we will To View More >>

We love it when one of our staff members gets an album made for themselves. We spend most of our time creating handmade products for photographers, but we like to walk the talk when it comes to printing our photos. Maddy works in the Queensberry bindery and she's let us share her Portrait Album with you. Take a look.  "I made my own scrapbook style photo albums when I was younger and printed photos to frame. This is the second Queensberry album I've made.  "I wanted to make a gift for my partner, Simba, to celebrate the adventures we’ve had together so far, including a To View More >>
